Position: ICT Officer
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Reports to: Head of Programs
Contract: One Year (Renewable, subject to performance and funding availability)
The Tanzania Education Network/Mtandao wa Elimu Tanzania (TEN/MET) is a leading civil society education coalition advocating for inclusive, equitable, and quality education. With a membership of 245 organizations, TEN/MET works with policymakers, development partners, and communities to influence education policy and practice through evidence-based advocacy and impactful interventions.
To strengthen our operations, we are seeking a dynamic ICT Officer to lead the development, implementation, and management of ICT infrastructure and knowledge systems that drive efficiency, security, and organizational learning.
Purpose of the Role
The ICT Officer will manage TEN/MET’s ICT environment, ensuring robust infrastructure, secure data systems, reliable digital platforms, and knowledge management practices that promote collaboration and institutional growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. ICT Systems & Infrastructure
- Manage LAN, servers, VPN, CCTV, internet connectivity, and cloud services.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware/software, providing user support.
- Implement cybersecurity measures including antivirus, firewalls, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Troubleshoot and maintain ICT equipment.
2. Digital Platforms & Communication
- Manage staff emails, mailing lists, and platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom).
- Maintain and update TEN/MET’s website with reports, newsletters, and publications.
- Monitor website performance and support refurbishment projects.
3. Database & Information Management
- Develop and maintain the TEN/MET members’ database with accuracy and security.
- Support data collection, analysis, and dissemination systems.
- Ensure compliance with data protection standards (local and international).
- Archive reports, evaluations, and best practices for institutional memory.
4. ICT Planning & External Engagement
- Prepare ICT annual plans and budgets and monitor ICT expenditures.
- Engage with service providers (hosting, survey tools, etc.).
- Research and advise on ICT innovations and adoption.
5. Capacity Building & Support
- Provide technical support and training for staff and members.
- Strengthen ICT use, digital collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
- Train staff on knowledge management systems (digital repositories, content management tools).
6. Flexibility
- Undertake other ICT-related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCNA, Microsoft, ITIL, CompTIA) are an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in ICT administration.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Website CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Wix)
- Databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
- Cloud platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho)
- Solid understanding of ICT security, data protection, and compliance (Tanzanian and international).
- Proven skills in user support, troubleshooting, and ICT capacity building.
