TB/HIV Community-Based Program
Through Global Fund Cycle 7 Grant support, STEPS Tanzania implements the essential TB/HIV Community-based Program from October 2025 to December 2026. This program supports national efforts to sustain and expand community HIV and TB services. The program, implemented with Lead CSO-Christian, covers community-based TB/HIV services across 185 councils. It emphasizes peer-led service delivery and integration with Local Government Authorities.
The program aims to reduce new HIV infections by 85 percent from the 2010 baseline by 2025. In addition, it targets reducing mother-to-child transmission to below 4 percent at the end of breastfeeding, lowering AIDS-related deaths by 80 percent, reducing HIV-related stigma to below 5 percent, and decreasing TB incidence and mortality through enhanced detection, treatment, and prevention.
Job Opportunity: Driver (3 Posts)
STEPS Tanzania seeks motivated and dedicated individuals to fill three Driver positions in its zonal implementation regions. Drivers will report to the STEPS Administration Officer and will operate from Dar es Salaam and Mbeya. The work involves office duties, 60 percent field travel, and 10 percent on-call duty.
Job Summary
The Driver will operate project vehicles to transport authorized personnel and equipment safely. Additionally, the Driver will maintain vehicles in excellent condition and ensure secure operations at all times.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide regular usage reports of vehicles, including total mileage, fuel consumption, and related expenditures
- Follow traffic rules, driver safety protocols, and instructions from supervisors
- Complete logbooks accurately for every travel assignment
- Transport staff, visitors, and equipment as required
- Perform daily vehicle maintenance, including fuel, lubrication, oil, interior, and exterior checks
- Prepare mileage and fuel consumption reports promptly
- Supervise and report vehicle maintenance and repair needs
- Maintain first aid kits, communication equipment, and fire extinguishers in vehicles
- Perform other tasks assigned by supervisors
- Report major incidents immediately, such as insurance renewal or accidents
- Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure readiness
- Schedule and oversee timely servicing and maintenance
- Support logistics and administrative functions when needed
- Follow all government, organizational, and donor road security and safety procedures
Qualifications and Experiences
- Certificate of Secondary Education or Driving Certificate from a reputable driving college
- Certificate of Advanced Driving Course from NIT or VETA
- Valid driving license classes B, C, D, and E
- At least three years of experience as a driver with international organizations or local NGOs
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and ability to perform routine checks
- Adaptability to different weather conditions, traffic situations, and road environments
- Awareness of road safety regulations and strict adherence to protocols

- Ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences
