JOB SUMMARY
Setting the strategic direction and expansion of human resources, including workforce planning and development, is within the purview of the Head of Human Resources (HoHR). Raising organizational performance and employee performance to the necessary level is the main goal. In order to improve organizational development and leadership within the National Association, the HoHR will take the lead and actively participate in procedures. The HoHR will also oversee the HR manual’s implementation and inform and train employees on new HR regulations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads Human Resource Planning and Implementation of HR Policies:
- Plans and projects for new roles after consulting with the leaders of the National Office departments, project managers, and the National Director.
- Announces open opportunities, controls hiring, and supervises placement for authorized roles while making sure that correct protocols and ethical HR practices are followed.
- Ensures adherence to SOS rules and procedures in staff recruitment methods by conducting staff interviews and assembling impartial interview panels.
- Complies with established staff employment standards and processes when providing employment papers to employees, such as job descriptions, contracts, appointment letters, and position offers.
- Oversees the handling of each employee’s private, sensitive data at the National Office and the projects. Ensures adequate records of key employee documents and advises project heads on possible improvements in staff personal records.
Promote Employee Relations:
- Gives line managers direction and clarification on how to apply HR policies, procedures, and systems in accordance with the Human Resource handbook.
- Maintains cohesive and encouraging staff teams by assisting line managers in having open and efficient conversations about issues impacting employees and their interactions with their managers.
- Keeps lines of communication open with facility managers and project leaders on staff indiscipline issues, making sure that each case is handled sternly and fairly.
- Involves working with project managers to handle personnel disciplinary and grievance procedures (according to established protocols and at stages judged suitable). When necessary, seeks the National Director’s involvement and guidance in major staff indiscipline situations by briefing and consulting him.
Leads Staff Performance Management:
- Oversees the performance management policy’s execution, helps line managers use the policy practically to improve employee performance and productivity throughout the company, and supports them in handling underwhelming performance.
- Oversees the implementation of project managers’ staff performance reviews, making sure that they are completed efficiently and on time. assists project managers in resolving instances of consistently subpar performance and collaborates with them on the actions that must be taken in response to staff performance reports. Promoting a performance culture inside the company is another duty of the HOHR.
- Tools for performance management and appraisal are reviewed and improved.
- Oversees the creation and evaluation of job descriptions, making sure that positions are clearly specified to efficiently support organizational structures.
Coordinates Staff Orientations, Induction and Development:
- Create and oversee orientation programs for both new hires and current employees, making sure they receive thorough training and targeted induction into the company and their positions.
- Starts evaluating and preparing for the training and development needs of important employees, working with project managers, department heads, and the National Director to coordinate training initiatives within the National Association. The execution of authorized training and development initiatives is supervised by the Head of Human Resources (HoHR).
- Creates reports following every training session that are used as a guide for assessing the efficacy of the instruction and attending to post-training requirements.
- To meet the organization’s growth needs, she oversees communications and communicates with the SOS Regional Training Center, the regional HR adviser, and outside training providers.
Performs Other Responsibilities:
- Firmly supports the National Director in creating different management procedures to further the National Association’s goals.
- Helps the National Director with the preparation of agendas, presentations, and other materials for planning forums, board meetings, and other significant meetings held within the National Association.
- Oversee the entire setup and operation of the National Office, making sure that high standards and general efficiency are maintained.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, ABILITIES, AND BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCES:
- A master’s degree in human resource management, business administration, public administration, industrial relations, psychology, or a similar discipline, together with further coursework and at least five years of relevant work experience, is required. Professional experience that is comparable may be taken into account.
- A minimum of seven years of steadily increasing HR-related professional experience, with a strong preference for work in Tanzanian international non-governmental organizations.
- Thorough awareness of Tanzanian labor laws and norms, as evidenced by an in-depth comprehension of Tanzanian HR procedures and standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-cultural awareness, and the capacity to work well with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds both inside and outside the company.
- Sound discretion and judgment to act as a highly professional representative of the organization.
