Job Vacancy: Internal Auditor (1 Post)

Nature and Scope

The Internal Auditor will report directly to the Board of Directors and administratively to the General Manager. The role involves evaluating internal controls, corporate governance, and accounting processes of the Union. The Auditor will ensure compliance with laws and regulations while maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review and report on the adequacy of internal controls over financial and non-financial resources.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and directives from the Registrar of Co-operatives.
• Review the accuracy of financial calculations and information prepared by the office.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of operational systems and make recommendations.
• Safeguard Union assets through regular audits.
• Assess office activities and plans to ensure alignment with the Union’s vision, mission, and values.
• Monitor management’s response to external audit findings and support implementation of recommendations.
• Review and advise on operational and technological systems.
• Develop and implement an Internal Audit Plan and inspection plan.
• Conduct value-for-money checks on development projects and operations.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
• Recognized professional accountancy qualification (CPA or ACCA) from NBAA.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a reputable organization.

Salary: As per SIMCU (2018) Ltd Salary Scales.
