The National Council of People Living with HIV (NACOPHA), established in 2005, is the national representative body and unified voice for PLHIV organizations, networks, and individuals in mainland Tanzania. With a membership of over 5,000 organizations, NACOPHA plays a key role as a sub-sub-recipient (SSR) of the Global Fund’s TB/HIV Community Grant, supporting efforts to sustain and expand community-based HIV and TB services.
Since October 2020, NACOPHA has been implementing interventions in 39 district councils, working closely with the Government of Tanzania, civil society, and the private sector. Through the Global Fund Cycle 7 (GFC7), the organization continues to strengthen integration with Local Government Authorities and empower communities to lead the HIV response.
Job Summary
The Driver will be responsible for operating NACOPHA vehicles, transporting staff, visitors, and project materials safely and efficiently. In addition, the role includes maintaining vehicles in good condition, ensuring compliance with traffic and organizational regulations, and preparing accurate vehicle usage reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive project vehicles to transport staff, visitors, and equipment as required.
- Ensure vehicles are kept safe, clean, and in good running condition.
- Prepare and maintain vehicle usage reports, including mileage and fuel consumption.
- Fill the logbook for every trip.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks, ensuring timely servicing and reporting mechanical issues promptly.
- Supervise all maintenance and repair work on assigned vehicles.
- Maintain safety equipment such as a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and communication tools.
- Adhere strictly to traffic rules, government regulations, and NACOPHA/donor safety policies.
- Report major incidents immediately, including accidents and insurance renewals.
- Support any other duties assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate of Secondary Education or a Driving Certificate from a recognized Driving College.
- Certificate of Advanced Driving Course from NIT or VETA.
- Valid Driving License classes B, C, D, and E.
- At least 3 years of proven driving experience, preferably with NGOs or international organizations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and routine mechanical checks.
- Ability to adapt to different weather, traffic, and road conditions.
- Strong awareness of road safety regulations.
