The National Council of People Living with HIV (NACOPHA), established in 2005, serves as the highest representative body and unified voice for PLHIV organizations, networks, and individuals in mainland Tanzania. With a membership of more than 5,000 organizations, NACOPHA plays a key role as a sub-sub-recipient (SSR) of the Global Fund’s TB/HIV Community Grant, supporting national efforts to sustain and expand community-based HIV and TB services.
Since October 2020, NACOPHA has been implementing interventions in 39 district councils, in close collaboration with the Government of Tanzania, civil society, and the private sector. Through the Global Fund Cycle 7 (GFC7) program, NACOPHA continues to empower communities and strengthen the integration of HIV responses with Local Government Authorities.
Job Summary
The Zonal KVP Officer will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring quality implementation of behavioral, structural, and biomedical interventions targeting key and vulnerable populations (KVPs). The role requires close collaboration with Local Government Authorities, health facilities, and other implementing partners to ensure effective service linkages, referrals, and tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the NACOPHA technical advisor and support the Zonal Coordinator in implementing KVP interventions.
- Collaborate with regional and district HIV coordinators to ensure smooth implementation of planned activities.
- Coordinate and monitor the execution of all KVP-related interventions in respective regions/districts.
- Oversee training activities, ensuring compliance with national guidelines.
- Provide resources, guidance, and supportive supervision to project implementers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual progress reports.
- Supervise KVP peer educators to ensure quality service delivery.
- Coordinate zonal program work plans and ensure they align with program goals and objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public health, preferably within HIV-related services.
- Experience working with nonprofits, government agencies, or international NGOs is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with national and international guidelines on HIV and AIDS programs.
- Experience engaging with key and vulnerable populations (e.g., sex workers, people who inject drugs, transgender individuals, PLHIV).
- Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care strategies.
- Experience in needs assessments, stakeholder analysis, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Strong community outreach and engagement skills to build rapport with KVPs.
