Through the Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit Agency (DART), the government of Tanzania has given a 12-year contract to Mofat, a local company in Tanzania, to provide services for the second phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, which would cover the route from Gerezani to Mbagala.
Qualifications:
- A current Class C (Passenger Service Vehicle) driver’s license or its equivalent
- Three years or more of experience operating a commercial vehicle or using public transportation.
- VETA or NIT Certificate
- An added benefit is having a basic understanding of mechanics.
- It is preferred if you have prior customer service or public facing experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of the metropolitan roadways and traffic regulations in Dar es Salaam.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities (Driving):
- Follow timetables and safety guidelines when operating BRT buses on designated routes.
- Observe all traffic regulations and business operating guidelines.
- Assure punctual departures and arrivals at specified stops while upholding route discipline.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Customer service and assistance: Welcome and help travelers, especially the older and those with support needs.
- Information Provision: Give out travel advice and politely address little grievances.
- Vehicle Inspection: Examine the vehicle’s brakes, lights, and tires both before and after the drive.
- Defect Reporting: Notify the maintenance department right away of any problems with the car.
- Emergency Handling: React suitably to crises such car accidents, passenger illnesses, or malfunctions.
- Cleanliness: Keep the driving area neat and orderly, and report any interior or sanitary problems.
- Communication: Report any emergencies, traffic jams, or route changes to the control center.
- Documentation: Complete incident reports, trip logs, and any other paperwork that are needed in accordance with business policy.
