Responsibilities
- Encourage a proactive and engaged attitude to safety and health issues by sharing safety concerns and tactics with other crew members.
- Before beginning or continuing work in a given location, conduct workplace inspections to make sure that a safe environment is maintained and that any possible dangers are effectively addressed.
- Before starting any job at any workplace, make sure that a workplace inspection sheet is filled out.
- Communicate with engineers, geologists, surveyors, and other departments via the Underground Shift Supervisor to help achieve development and production goals.
- Make sure that a pre-start check is finished before operating any heavy machinery or vehicles, and that any damage to plants, vehicles, or machinery is recorded.
Qualifications required:
- A secondary school diploma, vocational training, an apprenticeship in a related profession, or a heavy machinery operating college program possess a current driver’s license from Tanzania.
- Operation capabilities for heavy mobile equipment.
- Awareness of the Mines Health & Safety Act.
Experience required:
- Four years or more of experience working as a “scoop operator” in an underground mining environment, ideally with a Caterpillar R2900G LHD
Skills and Knowledge required:
- Knowledge of underground hard rock mining methods, such as trucking development and production headings, bogging, scale, and watering.
- The capacity to keep highways and transport routes clean and in good condition. a complete driver’s license.
- It is much better to have prior Tele remote control experience.
- Strong communication abilities in Swahili and English, both in writing and speaking
- Possessing a “can do” mentality and the ability to act and function as a team will inspire the crew to follow company instructions regardless of their own opinions.
- Structured, methodical, and capable of working independently.
- Capacity to operate with little oversight
- Effective time management and the capacity to finish projects in a timely, safe, and professional manner
- The capacity to recognize dangers and stop dangerous situations or events before they happen.
